CUHK Global Studies Programme

Revitalising the Programme’s Identity with a Fresh Perspective

In the beginning of 2018, Carrot Salmon was invited to revamp an existing website for the Global Studies Programme of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. At the time, the program was fairly new and lacked photos that could be used. To compensate for the lack of images, we decided to use illustrations and animations to create a visually striking website that would appeal to the program's target audience - prospective and existing students, as well as their parents. Additionally, the previous website did not adapt well to different screen sizes.

A fully responsive website

After the revamp, the Global Studies website (GLSD) is now fully responsive. It features a globe animation on the homepage, conveying the idea of Global Consciousness, Multilingual and Multicultural Competencies, Multidisciplinary Knowledge, and Global Leadership.

The animated globe also became the key visual of the new GLSD brand and was later used in developing program collaterals.

In addition to creating new visuals, we also refreshed the program's identity by redesigning its logo based on the existing one. The new logo now complements the overall design of the website.

An interactive, animated study path

A special feature that the client wanted to add to the new website is an interactive study path that provides a summary of the program's two main curricula: a 4-year program and a 2-year one. The study path incorporates elements from the globe's key visual, combined with custom-made elements for the program, to give users a glimpse of what GLSD will offer them.
