Capturing the Vibrant Creativity of Young Talents
Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2014
The Young Fashion Designers' Contest (YDC), is an annual fashion competition coordinated by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC).
Every year, twelve talented fashion designers are invited to create a mini collection for the final competition held on the main stage at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The captivating and unconventional nature of scientific illustrations, with their vibrant colors and peculiar shapes, serves to enhance the audience's understanding of the subject matter while simultaneously transporting them to a realm of imagination.
In this project, the inspiration for the artistic direction stems from the illustrations of DNA molecules, which form the core foundation.
Our task encompassed crafting the campaign's identity, along with developing a comprehensive catalog that features a series of fashion photographs showcasing the selected collections.
To align with the event's thematic essence—Gene Say Fashion—we orchestrated the photoshoot with a bespoke stage design tailored to highlight the standout piece from each of the twelve finalists' collections.
The catalog's design also adheres to the same theme. Our design concept incorporates glitches and 3D art to emulate the sensation of genetic mutation, thereby visually celebrating the exceptional talent and creativity of these young designers.
